Growing Vegetables for a Fall Harvest

Even in the heat of summer we need to start thinking about the fall vegetable garden. Mid-August through early September is the time to begin planting fall/cool season crops. Look for transplants of broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and cabbage to plant for an October harvest. Sow seeds for carrots, radishes, and any of the greens like lettuce, spinach, kale, cilantro, and arugula. Greens can be planted every 2 weeks until the end of September for continual harvest into November. Fall seeds and transplants will be arriving at The Plant Kingdom in mid-August.

For more information about planting your vegetable transplants and seeds, visit our Monthly Tip & Contestpage. While you’re there you can also enter to win $25 Plant Kingdom Gift Card.
